Virtual Farmer Social

May 4, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Friends of Family Farmers invites you to another Farmer Social, a virtual casual forum. Join us on Monday May 4th from 7:30 to 9 pm to continue to talk with other farmers about how you are adapting your business to the COVID-19. We will be focusing on CSA best practices and creative structures.  Many farmers are turning to the CSA model to help customers get socially responsible, physically distanced access to local food.  But this model comes with its own challenges and pitfalls.

If you have a ton of experience with CSA, share it on this call!  If you are hitting a roadblock, share it on this call!  We will also introduce the newest tool from OSU and PACSAC to help you get the info you need to go down this road.  If needed, we will provide regional break out rooms so that you can collaborate and discuss with other farmers in your area.

Many choose farming as a career because of a strong connection to the land, a desire to feed your community, a family legacy, or a need to be part of building a better, healthier world for the future.  But in a time like this, our choice to live on the land and raise food could make farmers and ranchers feel more isolated than ever.

FoFF has always brought farmers together to share ideas, commiserate on common roadblocks, seek advice and find creative solutions.  We want to continue to serve that purpose for family farmers across the state despite the pandemic. Together, we can help tackle our common problems and develop solutions to keep Oregon a great place to live and farm.

***Please note***

This is a space for farmers to talk to their fellow producers about how to shift online and continue to feed their communities through this pandemic.  As an industry, direct-to-consumer and market farmers need a space to talk to their peers about technical solutions to problems that put the future of their businesses in question.  We love and appreciate the support of eaters and community members during this difficult time, but if you are not an agricultural producer who is actively selling food or farm products to your community this season, please do not join this call.  We have other programs that are open to the whole community, and are doing our best to make relevant information available to our loyal local food supporters. Thank you for keeping this a forum just for farmers and ranchers to connect.
