Muckboots in the Capitol: What’s the Deal with Maple Syrup?

The Farm Direct Enhancement Bill, which passed in the 2023 Legislative Session, is finally in full effect! You can now find your favorite farm direct products like maple syrup, freeze dried fruits, and herbal teas sold legally at your local farmers markets AND from farm direct online sales outlets. We’ve heard from many curious farmers wondering “what is the deal with Oregon maple syrup?”, so we decided to host this special Lunch and Learn information session on November 27th from 12-1pm all about maple syrup!  Maple syrup has traditionally been more expensive to produce in the Pacific Northwest but over the last few years with a couple of technical advances, and now the addition of syrup to the Farm Direct Bill, some farmers have been inspired to give it a try. Come hear from tree tapping experts to find out what equipment you need, trees you can tap and if producing syrup is for you!
