Muckboots in the Capitol: CANOLA

August 28, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

WHAT: Muckboots in the Capitol – CANOLA
WHEN: August 28th from 12-1pm via Zoom
SB 789 was intended to make the Willamette Valley Protected District restrictions permanent, but was amended last minute leaving only one more year of protections for specialty seed growers before it expires. But there is an opportunity for us to make some lasting changes! There is a workgroup convened by ODA that will deliver a report to the Legislature by the end of September that may be the basis for future legislation. FoFF is working with coalition partners to put together a proposal to support specialty seed growers. We would love your input!

Join us on August 28th from 12-1pm for our next Lunch and Learn – Muckboots in the Capitol: Canola Protected District for information on past regulations, this pivotal year after passing SB 789, and the future of maintaining the Willamette Valley Protected District and limiting canola production.

Please share widely with specialty seed growers or any farmers growing brassicas! Maintaining the Willamette Valley Protected District and limiting canola production to preserve our specialty seed growing ability is crucial to the existence of our brassica seed industry in Oregon.
